Microsoft EXCEL is an electronic spreadsheet program that runs on Windows computers. You use an ‘electronic spreadsheet’ to produce professional-looking documents that perform numeric calculations rapidly and accurately. These calculations are updated automatically so that accurate information is always available.
The electronic spreadsheet that you produce when using EXCEL is also referred to as a ‘worksheet.’ Individual worksheets are stored within a ‘workbook,’ which is a file with the .xls file extension. Each new workbook contains three worksheets.
In this unit, you will learn how to start Microsoft EXCEL and identify elements in the EXCEL window. You will also learn how to open and save existing files, enter data in a worksheet, manipulate worksheets, and use the extensive “Help” system. |
